EUROPE BY TRAIN & FERRY

Skip short-hop flights and stitch together a continent-wide trip on high-speed rail, scenic regional lines, and strategic ferry crossings. These six sample routes cover Western capitals, the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Central Europe, Iberia, and the Sunday Special Trip from London through the Balkans and back to Paris.

Before you book

  • Most routes assume a Eurail Global Pass or point-to-point tickets booked 60-90 days ahead for high-speed seats.
  • Ferries usually need separate reservations; overnight sailings save a hotel night on longer legs.
  • Travel April through June or September through October for mild weather and lighter crowds on popular corridors.
  • Check U.S. State Department advisories before booking eastern or southeastern segments.
